Chillicothe trip news

Two years in a row - we've found the weather to be crappy on our annual trip to Chillicothe. The trip started with 18 holes at The Legacy in Norwolk Iowa - just outside of Des Moines. Tim Smyrk shot even par. Eric "new guy" Korsan made money but I'm not sure what he shot.

I have a Jimbo story. I shared a cart with Jimbo at The Legacy. It was great. We shared in looking for our golf balls and seemed to be bonding well. We each took our turn in moving the cart up the paths as needed. Jim was struggling but his mood was good. Throughout the round, I found a half dozen golf balls scattered in the rough and trees. I threw them in the cart. One was a Titliest Pro V the others were "also rans". Top Flite, Nike, etc...

On 17 tee (short par 3 over water) Jim hit his tee shot in the water. Jim was playing a Top Flite all day. Jim walks over to the cart and grabs a golf ball we had scavenged throughout the day. Tees up and hits that ball....into the water also.

While walking back to the cart, I jokingly suggested that I hope he hadn't hit my Pro V. He laughed and said he had. Think of that logic! All day long he plays Top Flite. Then on a water hole - after already dumping one in - take a Pro V I found in pristine condition and dumps that in! Incredible! He said that the Pro V's are nothing special - "they go in the water too!"

The cool part was that we spent the first three rounds of the trip in the same cart. And on the same team in the big game. I just know I'll be drawing the same card on Wednesday.

On another note, I owe Steve Richardson a six-pack. I lost the bet. Extra Pale Ale Summit coming right up. Thought i was going to make it. I felt calm and in control the whole time. Then preceded to top two drives in a row. That was the trigger. The whole time I was looking at my putter suspiciously - damn driver...

Gerry Rhea - "Nobody's Bitch"

Gerry raked in about $32 on Saturday. I believe Gerry is an 18 handicap. He shot a 79. Congrats Gerry!! His memorable quote on Saturday after finishing at the bottom of the money list last year "I'm nobody's bitch this year!"

Again Rodney did some fancy math to make some money in team and horserace. We should probably ask Rod to give us his totals first....

Kann was happy shooting a 95 - until he found out he lost $2 to Jimbo. Note to Steve: If you're a 17 handicap, a 95 is not going keep you in fine wines. Kann tried to poison me with an old cigar left over from 1998. Jerk! He did drive 16 green. First time ever driving a par 4 green. Congrats on that!

Welcome back Gene Frey!

The most improved:
Keith Peterson - lowered his handicap index 4.4 strokes over last year.
Bob Pomerenke - lowered his handicap index 1.9 strokes over last year.
Steve Jacobson - lowered his handicap index 1.8 strokes over last years Chillicothe trip.

Most improved bagger:
Bob Monahan - increased his index from 8.1 to 11.6 = an additional 3.5 strokes!
Jeff Anderson - increased his handicap index 2.4 strokes over last year.

If I was Bob Monahan, I'd be asking for strokes from Keith. No more even up games.
